Do you need a recommendation or are you checking a fixture you already have?
Sizing guidance is decorative planning guidance, not electrical or installation advice. Confirm fixture weight, junction-box rating, electrical code, manufacturer instructions and required clearances with a qualified professional before installation.

LIGHTING SIZE + PLACEMENT FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How big should my chandelier be over a dining table?

A common starting point is a chandelier diameter around one-half to two-thirds of the table width. For a linear fixture, compare its length with the table length instead.

How high should a chandelier hang above a dining table?

Start around 30–36 inches above the tabletop with a standard-height ceiling, adjusting for ceiling height, sightlines, and the fixture manufacturer’s instructions.

How far apart should kitchen island pendants be?

Space pendants evenly over the usable island length and leave room at both ends. The calculator uses your island measurements and pendant count to help plan the arrangement.

Can I use my own room photo?

Yes. Upload a straight-on photo of your room, or start with one of the six sample backgrounds. Drag fixtures and furniture into place to explore the layout.

Can I resize, move, or remove objects in the preview?

You can move the lighting fixtures and adjust their preview size. Furniture pieces can be selected, resized, rotated, moved forward or backward, and removed.

Are these measurements exact installation instructions?

No. These are visual planning estimates. Always verify electrical clearances, fixture weight, junction-box support, and installation requirements with a qualified professional.
